Site and Purpose

This site is designed to help you with basic information pertaining to services our firm provides. Moreover, my site may not have certain information, links, or disclosures that affect your specific accounting needs. If more detailed information is needed, please contact me directly.

Under our state's requirements for issuing assurance services, mainly audited financial statements, our firm is required to have a independent peer review on these services. This in-house review is required every three years. During this process the peer reviewer addresses our firm's Quality Control to issue financial statements in accordance with our national and state guidelines. The reviewer looks at a variety of statements that we issue including: corporate, non-profit, and employee benefit (retirement) plans. Our firm received "Pass" during our latest review in 2022, which is the highest grade available.

Levels of Being a CPA

To your amazement, there are different levels of being a Certified Public Accountant. There are CPAs who have just passed the examination and not yet state licensed; CPAs who are licensed but don't disclose they are a CPA to the public; CPAs who work in the private (corporate) sector; CPAs who work for the public and are licensed to file certain tax forms and can issue compilations and reviews of financial statements; CPAs, who in addition, can issue audited financial statements; CPAs, who in addition to the previous two levels, issue governmental or SEC audited financial statements.

We are licensed auditors of financial statements, but can not issue governmental or SEC audited based financial statements.

A licensee is required to have continuing professional education (CPE) in their professional areas. In general, to maintain your license in Virginia a CPA is required to maintain 120-hours of CPE over a three-year period, regardless of your level.
